Gel food seems to have become a craze throughout the goldfish community. If you’re not feeding Hikari, you’re feeding Repashy, the gold standards of fancy, common and koi food. They are full of high quality, nutritious ingredients to help your fish reach their full potential, and live a healthy life. If you are interested in going down the gel food route, we have put together a video to show you how easy it is to make Repashy.
After receiving your jar of Repashy gel food powder, you want to prepare some hot water and find a measuring cup. We used a kettle to heat our water on a stovetop, but you can also microwave the water (or mixture). Once you have hot water, simply mix 3 parts water to 1 part powder, and mix combine. When you have fully combined the mixture, don’t be surprised if it quickly sets up to a thick gelatinous texture. At this point you may either spread it out on a plate to refrigerate, or add it to a mold for refrigeration or freezing. To prevent fouling up your water, reduce waste and avoid a possible bacterial bloom, divide your servings into bite sized portions when preparing to feed. Repashy can be kept in a refrigerator for one to two weeks, or in a freezer for extended periods of time (just remember to thaw before serving). And that’s it, you really don’t have to invest too much time into feeding your goldies well.
